Cozy Up in a Nice Warm Book

Yet another thoughtful creation for young minds. Designed to close up during waking hours to create more space, this Child’s Play storybook bed by Yusuke Suzuki is fun and original.

Traveling with Furniture. Literally

Hmm… This innovative concept design by designer Erik De Nijs functions as luggage, but can be converted into a comfy set of stylish furniture for those extended layovers.

De Nijs explains his thinking behind the project:

The ‘suited case’ is a project which is inspired on the idea of people waiting during their trip. People often go and rest sitting on their suitcases, that is the starting point of this design.

Hmmm… the negative shape looks very close to an Eames Chair. Interesting idea, but is it comfortable to sit on? Find out more here.

Shout-out to Dick for the heads-up

Express Yourself

One example of the possibilities:

Ben Wilson has designed a chair for children that you can customize by coloring the chair as you see fit. The chair is cut from a flat plywood sheet, and the 2 Dimensional parts are assembled into a chair. If your feeling really inspired check out this post on more self-expression.

The “Typo Chair”

The Typo Chair is the latest creation of Dutch design studio Bomdesign. What is even more intriguing than the obvious typographic element is the sustainable element of the design. Each chair is made from reused billboards and since each billboard is different each chair has its own original typographic pattern. (more…)
