Women of Design is now available in stores. Authors Byrony Gomez-Palacio and Armin Vit present this awesome resource that showcases extremely talented women in graphic design.
German designer Marco Hemmerling has created a faceted installation in Cologne, Germany, called Cityscope. In his words:
While moving around the sculpture the images, that reflect on the triangulated envelope, continuously change. In that way the beholder becomes an integral part of the installation and its complex reflections.
Greenpeace launched their latest edition (version 10) of a “Guide to Greener Electronics.” The guide includes all the heavyweights (Microsoft, Apple, HP, Sony, Nokia, you get the gist)

Esteemed designer April Greiman will be honored with a Masters Series Award and retrospective exhibition at SVA in New York City. The exhibition is on display until December 13th.
“April Greiman was a bridge between the modern and postmodern, the analog and the digital,” says Steven Heller, design historian and co-chair of the MFA Design Department at SVA. “She is a pivotal proponent of the ‘new typography’ and new wave that defined late twentieth-century graphic design.”
The Los Angeles Earthquake: Get Ready project met with great success. In all there were over 5.4 million participants prepared to drop, cover, and hold on during this unprecedented effort. The Get Ready Rally was organized by Designmatters at Art Center along with government, private and public sector agencies to inspire Southern Californians to get ready for “The Big One.”
Designmatters co-founder Mariana Amatullo shared her unique perspective of this ambitious 3 year project and gave valuable insight into some of the challenging, yet inspiring experiences she gained in the process.

MA: We designed “The Get Ready Rally“ as a high octane and immersive multimedia environment that was visually stunning and conveyed upbeat energy.
